Work with Pipeline Flow Networks using AVEVA Process Simulation (APS)

Use AVEVA Process Simulation (APS) and AVEVA Pipeline Integrity Monitor SimConstruct (SimConstruct) to create Flow Network models that can be uploaded to the RealTime database (RTDB).
A Flow Network model can represent a simple pipeline Flow Network or multiple connected Flow Networks (referred to hereafter as interconnected Flow Networks). The ability to divide Flow Networks into smaller, connected entities, along with the ability to model the networks using a graphical interface, means that administrators can efficiently manage Flow Network complexity and create more readable pipeline models.
The following diagram summarizes how pipeline Flow Network models can be created and pushed into the RTDB.

First, Flow Network models are created in APS and saved as configuration files (*.simx). Then, SimConstruct is used to import these files and push them into the RTDB using an intermediate file format (*.JSON). For more information on the intermediate file format used in this process, refer to the AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids Developer Guide documentation.

Before you begin your implementation, please note the following considerations:
-
SimConstruct can only be used as a method of import on operating systems set to an English locale.
-
All Interconnected Flow Networks need to be processed by the same system. If Flow Network Models contain Flow Network Interconnections that connect them to other Flow Networks, then all said Flow Networks needs to be processed by the same AVEVA Enterprise SCADA RealTime server. To ensure this occurs, all Interconnected Flow Networks must be placed within the same shared dataset.
-
After the initial loading of the Flow Network model from APS into the RTDB, changes to Flow Network devices included in the model should be initiated from APS. This includes adding devices, removing devices, changing device connectivity, or renaming devices.
