The Action Sequence Set Step type is used to define a point to which you want to issue a certain command. Configure an Action Sequence Set type step using the Action Sequence Designer.

The Action Sequence Set Step dialog appears as follows:

To configure an Action Sequence Set Step:

  1. Open the Action Sequence Designer for the Action Sequence of interest. For more information on how to open the Action Sequence Designer, see Open an Action Sequence in the Action Sequence Designer.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Insert a new Action Sequence Set Step into the Action Sequence. For more information on how to insert an Action Sequence Step into an Action Sequence, see Insert new Action Sequence Steps.

    • Identify the existing Action Sequence Set Step to be modified.

  3. Optional: To skip this step when the Action Sequence is activated, select the Inhibit checkbox.

Note: If the Inhibit checkbox is selected, the Controller is unable to uninhibit this step in the easy eXtended Operator Station (ezXOS).

  4. In the Name field, enter a name for the step record in the Sequence Step (sequenceStep) table.

Note: This name is automatically generated. By default, the Name field in the step appends the Action Sequence (actionSequence) record name to it.

  5. In the Wait After Command (sec) field, enter a state or value. The step will pause until the desired state or value has been reached, or fail if the timeout expires before the desired state or value has been reached.

Note: If Wait After Command (sec) is set to zero (0), the step will wait indefinitely.

  6. Optional: Select the Disable checkbox to prevent the Action Sequence from waiting for the step to reach the desired state.

Once a command has been successfully sent, the step is considered to have succeeded and the next step is executed immediately.

  7. In the Point field, click (...) to select the RealTime point path (table and record) on which the operation is to take place. For more information about how to select a pathway, see Volume 1 of the RealTime Administrator documentation. The path can belong to one of the following tables:

    • Status

    • Multistate

    • Analog

    • Valve

    • Pump

  8. Optional: In the Command field, enter a command to send.

Notes: This field only applies to valve, pump, status, and multistate points.

For status and multistate points configured as point type Calculated, the command must match the one specified in the base message set configured for this point.

For status or multistate points, the viable commands are defined in their message sets. For more information, see Understand Action Sequence message sets.

  9. Optional: In the Value field, enter a value to which the point is set and to which it is expected to go if the step is to succeed.

Note: This field only applies to analog points.

  10. In the Retry Attempts field, enter a value between 0 and 9. If a failure occurs, the Action Sequence will re-execute the command the specified number of times before the step is considered a failure.

  11. In the Target State dropdown, select the state to which the point must go for the step to succeed.

Note: This field only applies to valve, pump, status, and multistate points. For valve and pump, this field is automatically set to Same as Command.

  12. Optional: Link the new Action Sequence step to subsequent steps to construct the Action Sequence. For more information on linking Action Sequence steps, see Link Action Sequence Steps.

Notes: You can link the Out ports of two or more Action Sequence steps to the In port of a single Action Sequence step. This allows you to merge Action Sequences steps. For more information, see Merge Action Sequence Steps.

You can configure failure paths for Set steps by linking the step Failure port to the In port of the first step of Action Sequence failure path. For more information, see Link Action Sequence Steps to failure paths.

  13. Click Save to save the changes to the Action Sequence.
