To insert an anomaly

  1. Click (...) to select the anomaly Type.

Note: Based on the selected type, default values (if enabled by the Administrator for this Anomaly Type) will be automatically populated for the following fields: Name, Use Segment Slip Factor, Slip Factor, and Unexpected Anomaly Detection Volume.

  2. Enter the anomaly name in the Name field.

  3. Select Use Segment Slip Factor to enable the use of the Slip Factor associated with the segment. If this option is enabled, the Slip Factor field will not be editable.

In this case, instead of using its own slip factor, the anomaly will use the slip factor configured for the segment. As the anomaly moves into a new segment, the slip factor of the anomaly will automatically be adjusted to the slip factor of the new segment.

  4. Enter the slip factor in the Slip Factor field.

When enabled, the Slip Factor value can range from 0.0 to 1.0. The slip factor value indicates the flow rate of the anomaly relative to the flow rate of the product in the segment. For example, a slip factor of 0.0 indicates that the anomaly is not moving down the pipe at all. A slip factor of 1.0 indicates that the anomaly is moving down the pipe at the flow rate of the product. A slip factor of 0.5 indicates that the anomaly is moving at half the flow rate of the product in the pipeline.

Note: This field is only editable when Use Segment Slip Factor is disabled.

  5. Update the value of Unexpected Anomaly Detection Volume if desired. Valid values are positive numbers. A value of zero will disable the unexpected anomaly approaching check.

This is the volume upstream of a node when the system should raise an alarm to indicate that the anomaly is approaching a segment that is not expected to receive anomalies of this type, or it does not lead to the expected receiver for this anomaly.

  6. Select the anomaly Launcher.

The list is filtered to only show Anomaly Detect records of type Launcher at this pipeline location associated with the selected anomaly type. The field will be disabled until an anomaly type is selected.

  7. Select the anomaly Receiver.

The list is filtered to only show Anomaly Detect records of type Receiver at this pipeline location associated with the selected anomaly type. The field will be disabled until an anomaly type is selected.

  8. Enter the offset value in the Gross Standard Volume (GSV) from Upstream End field. This represents the location where the anomaly will be inserted as a volume offset from the upstream end of the segment.

  9. Enter any desired comments in the Notes field.

  10. Select Insert Anomaly, and then select Yes when the confirmation dialog appears.

Note: If any of the required fields are left blank, the insert will fail, and the following error message is displayed:
One or more required fields have been left blank. Please ensure that all required fields are filled.
