AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids

Use case 3

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025
  • 2 minute read

Create a new Flow Network model in an existing SimConstruct workspace using a simx file, then upload the newly created Flow Network model from the SimConstruct workspace into the RTDB.

Context:

  • .simx file exists.

  • SimConstruct workspace exists.

  • Pipeline specified in the .simx file is not defined in the SimConstruct workspace.

Outcome:

  • Tool will refresh the SimConstruct workspace using the original .simx file by adding the specified Flow Network model.

  • Tool will upload the specified Flow Network model using the refreshed SimConstruct workspace (UOM) into the RTDB.

Usage Example:

FnetExport -f "Line_19" -p "Workspace_1" -u -e "es/control_room" [-d "dataset"] [-c "mocChangeset"]

Note: This example assumes that the Workspace_1 project exists but does not contain Line_19. Therefore Line_19 must be added to the project and exported to RealTime.

In the usage example, the arguments will import Line_19 using the Line_19 .simx file in the existing Workspace_1 SimConstruct project and export it to the es\control_room RealTime system.

Notes: The parameter [-d "dataset"] is optional. The argument is only used when the Flow Network is created in RealTime for the first time.

The parameter [-c "mocChangeset"] is optional but should be specified for distributed systems.

The parameter -u flag enables writing to the project. The parameter must be used to update/insert a new pipeline in an existing project.

Equivalence in the SimConstruct User Interface:

Executing the command line string corresponds to completing the following actions in SimConstruct:

  1. Select the Workspace_1 Workspace.

  2. Select Pipelines and then click NEW.

  3. Create the Line_19 pipeline as type Flow Network and then click LOAD MODEL.

    Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE)

  4. (Optional) Specify the Dataset. In the following example, LMS_OAS is selected.

  5. Click UPDATE DATABASE.
