Pressure and temperature analog auto-inhibit configuration

Pressure and temperature analog auto-inhibit configuration

Pressure and temperature analogs can be auto-inhibited by configuring an inhibit path and listing the states that indicate when the auto-inhibit should apply. The inhibit path can point to a status, a multistate, or an Advanced Logic Processor (ALP) record. While inhibited, the behavior of the analog point is the same as if the analog point was absent (that is, NOTELEMETRY). The analog point will also be considered absent if it is flagged as being in test mode or instrument fail mode—in this case, the value of the auto-inhibit path is not relevant.

Configure the inhibit paths and states

Use the following steps to configure an auto-inhibit for the upstream or/and downstream analog:

  1. Specify the upstream analog if one exists. Otherwise, specify NOTELEMETRY.

  2. Specify the downstream analog if one exists. Otherwise, specify NOTELEMETRY.

  3. Specify the upstream inhibit path if one is needed. Otherwise, specify NOTELEMETRY.

The field component of the inhibit path should not be specified. If it is specified, it will be ignored. For example: status.Node01Inh.* or status.Node01Inh.cursta will be treated the same as status.Node01Inh.

The upstream inhibit path is ignored when the upstream analog itself is configured as NOTELEMETRY.

  4. Specify a comma separated list of the states that should enable the inhibit for the upstream analog.

If an upstream inhibit path is specified, at least one inhibit state should be specified. Otherwise, the validation of the Batch Tracking (BT) file will fail.

  5. Specify the downstream inhibit path if one is needed. Otherwise, specify NOTELEMETRY.

The downstream inhibit path is ignored when the downstream analog itself is configured as NOTELEMETRY.

  6. Specify a comma separated list of the states that should enable the inhibit for the downstream analog.

If a downstream inhibit path is specified, at least one inhibit state should be specified. Otherwise, the validation of the BT file will fail.

    Examples

The following example shows a number of valid configurations of the auto-inhibit paths and states for pressure analogs upstream and downstream a pipe segment. The same example applies to PIPETMP.

You have the option to leave fields unspecified at the end of each line. For example, line 4 does not have inhibit paths for the upstream or downstream analog. Line 5 and 6 are both valid configurations if an inhibit path exists for the upstream analog but not the downstream analog.
