Understand Virtual Flow Computer (VFC) message sets

The Virtual Flow Computer (VFC) requires a five-row message set. As with any RealTime database (RTDB) record, the message set is assigned to a virtualflowcomputer record by referencing the Base Message field to the first row of the message set. The following text is the default message set for the VFC. This text is from the file (LMS.message.l) that is used to install the default AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids message set.
Each row of the message set is applied to a condition for the virtualflowcomputer record. The following table details the message sets of the VFC.
|
Number |
Name |
Description |
|---|---|---|
|
0 |
Normal |
All operations are functioning correctly. |
|
1 |
Inhibited |
Operations have been inhibited by the Controller. |
|
2 |
Missing MCF |
A Meter Correction Factor (MCF) that can be used for the current flowing conditions cannot be found. |
|
3 |
Simulation |
The Simulation Mode for the VFC is currently active. |

Catch-Up |
A negative volume increment has occurred on the rate telemetry for one or more accumulators on a positive-only VFC, and volume increments are currently being ignored (because they volume has been accounted for) until the previous read accumulation value is again reached. Note: The Catch-Up state is only used when bad delta for accumulators is not configured. |
