AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids

Understand the Balance Signature Plot information

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025
  • 1 minute read

The Balance Signature Plot appearing on the Pipeline Monitoring (PLM) Control window, is highlighted in yellow, and consists of three plots:

  • Flow 20 min.–now

  • Flow 40–20 min.

  • Flow 60–40 min.

Each plot represents a plot of delta flow () versus changes in the linepack and tank volumes.

Under steady-state conditions, the signature plot displays a dot in the middle of the plot.

The single dot indicates that the deviation is zero, or, in other words, there are no imbalances in the system.

For information about using the signature plot to determine possible causes of leak alarms or false alarms triggered by volume imbalances, refer to the Balance Signature Plot below.

For more information, refer to AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids Administrator documentation.
