Link Action Sequence Steps to failure paths

Create links from the Failure ports of Action Sequence Decision and Set steps to the In ports of subsequent Action Sequence steps to create failure paths in the Action Sequence Designer.

Creating a failure path gives the administrator an opportunity to mitigate failures that might occur while executing the Action Sequence. For example:

  • If an Action Sequence Set step fails to set the specified point to the target state after the configured number of retry attempts, the system will treat this as a failure.

  • If an Action Sequence Decision step fails to evaluate to True or False or if the data quality associated with the input used in the decision step is "Error", the system will treat this as a failure.

If a failure occurs and a failure path is not configured, the execution of the Action Sequence will stop and the state of the Action Sequence will be set to "Failed". However, if a failure path is configured, the Action Sequence will execute the failure path and its state will be set as "Mitigated".

Note: The Action Sequence Wait and Function step types do not support Failure ports.
