You may only open and close the valve if the Flow Network State is In Service or Out of Logic.
To open and close a valve
-
From the Valve Control dialog, select Open to open the valve, and select Close to close the valve.
After issuing the command, there are a number of validations that AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids completes in order to provide warnings of accidental pump blockages and overridable Flex Tags.
Note: All the validation, including the flow network checks described in the next step, are completed during this initial command. The Override Control dialog presents you with all the items that need to be overridden in one step. You can Override them all or Cancel.
-
Valve close requests are issued with a check into the Flow Network to see if the Close operation would block any running pumps or close off any paths. If this is the case, a message similar to the image below is displayed, indicating that the action could have consequences elsewhere in the network. You have the option of overriding the message and continuing to send the command, or of canceling the command.
