AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids

Pump configuration

Pump objects sit on the lowest level of data collection for AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids and interact directly with status or multistate points. Higher level applications within AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids then rely on pump objects rather than directly communicating with generic AVEVA Enterprise SCADA point types. This flow of data is shown in the diagram below:

The AVEVA Enterprise SCADA Omnicomm process interprets information received from the protocols in the field and reformats the information in a way that AVEVA Enterprise SCADA can understand. The information received from the field that has been reinterpreted by Omnicomm is sent to one of the basic RealTime database (RTDB) tables. In the pump table, the user will define the status or multistate point from which the telemetry information is to be gathered. For more information about the status and multistate tables, refer to Volume 1 of the RealTime Administrator documentation.

On RealTime servers that have AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids functionality installed, the monitorLMSObjects process operates silently in the background. It performs periodic operations to the pump table on points owned by the system. All information that relates to the pump is stored within the pump. This document details how to create and configure records within the pump table.
