The Main tab enables you to define the basic properties of the Pipeline Monitor (plm) record. The following procedure details how to configure the Main tab of the plm Row Edit dialog.
To configure the Main tab of the (plm) record
-
Open the plm record. For more information on how to open the plm record, see Opening the Pipeline Monitoring (PLM) Record.
The plm Row Edit dialog appears.

-
In the Name field, enter a name, or click (...) to select a name for the plm record.
-
(Optional) In the Description field, enter a description.
-
Select the Safety Related checkbox to indicate that the point is safety related. The Controller will be able to filter for these points in easy eXtended Operator Station (ezXOS).
-
In the Group field, click (...) to select a group.
-
In the Dataset field, click (...) to select a dataset.
-
In the Base Message field, click (...) to select a base message.
-
(Optional) In the Point Class field, select (...) to configure the plm point class.
-
(Optional) In the Point SubClass field, select (...) to configure the plm point subclass.
Note: The Point Class field is used to allow the Administrator to configure alarm severity. For further information about the Point Class and Point SubClass fields, refer to Volume 1 of the RealTime Administrator Guide.
-
In the Input Unit Profile field, click (...) to select the unit profile to be used with the plm record. The unit profiles are inherited from the unitprofile table.
-
In the Balance Tuning Factor field, enter an integer to define the adjustment to the flow differential (Total Metered Input – Total Metered Output). For more information, see Pipeline Monitor (PLM) basic volumetric variance formula.
-
In the Deviation Filter Constant field, enter a number to define the filter factor applied when calculating instantaneous(current) balance. For more information, see Pipeline Monitor (PLM) deviation filtering.
-
In the Negative Delta Tolerance field, enter the acceptable tolerance level for a negative delta increment coming from meter volume devices. If a Negative Delta Tolerance is entered, and if PLM calculates a negative delta increment for the meter device that is within the defined tolerance, the negative increment will be accounted for in Deviation and Delta Flow. In the event that there is a negative delta increment in meters that exceeds the defined tolerance, the negative increment will be set to zero.
For example, assume the Negative Delta Tolerance is defined as -20. That means a negative delta of -25 in meter volume device would be set to zero, but a negative delta of -19 would be accounted for in the Deviation and Delta Flow values.
-
(Optional) Select the Use Group Top of Day Hour checkbox if you want the PLM to use the top of day configured at the Group level using the Separate Top of Day (TOD) and Averages Rollup application, rather than the Top of Day Hour configured on the plm record.
The Use Group Top of Day Hour will overwrite the value of the Top of Day Hour, if it was previously configured. For more information about the Top of Day configuration methods used by the PLM application, see Understand Top of Day (TOD) configuration.
-
In the Top of Day Hour field, enter a time of day (in hour and minutes) at which the totals for the day are calculated. The Top of Day Hour is the default setting. The Top of Day Hour field is unavailable for editing when the Use Group Top of Day checkbox is selected.
Note: If the Use Group Top of Day checkbox is selected, the Top of Day Hour will be overwritten periodically with the hour from the Separate Top of Day and Averages Rollup application.
For more information about the Top of Day configuration methods used by PLM application, see Understand Top of Day (TOD) configuration.
-
In the Priority Display field, enter the name of the graphic you want to associate with the Priority Display button on an ezXOS control dialog.
-
Choose whether to enable or disable Do Not Backfill Term Data (by default, it is disabled). If the Do Not Backfill Term Data checkbox is left unchecked, the system will backfill PLM data after the occurrence of an outage by determining the total volume change and distributing it equally over the elements of the array affected by the outage. Otherwise, the affected elements will remain as 0.

Select Historical to open the collect Table Edit dialog. For more information, see Access the collect Table Edit from within Pipeline Monitor.
