The following procedure details how to configure a Strapping Table when Use Legacy Strap is selected.
To configure the a Legacy Strap table
-
Open the tank record. For more information on opening a tank record, see Opening the Tank Record.
The tank Row Edit dialog appears.

-
Select the Level to Volume tab to reveal the Level to Volume Conversion Method dropdown list.

-
From the Level to Volume Conversion Method dropdown list, select Use Legacy Strap.
Note: The Strapping Table Name field and Edit Strapping Table option are only available when Use Extended Strap has been selected.
For the Legacy Strapping method, the Strapping table is limited to 60 entries. The data for Legacy Strap is recorded in the RealTime database (RTDB). If more than 60 entries are required, Use Extended Strap must be selected. The data for Extended Strap is recorded in the Historical database.
-
In the Enter Strapping Table By dropdown list, define the strapping method. The available options are Increments or Level (for volume entries).
Note: A storage tank is typically calibrated by measuring or calculating the amount of volume in a tank at standard vertical increments. The strapping fraction represents the size of one strapping increment. This relationship may then be used by the system to convert between a vertical height expressed as a number of increments and a vertical height expressed in the strapping fraction units.
Changing the strapping method in the Enter Strapping Table by dropdown list will gray out the inactive part of the data table.
-
From the Strapping Fraction dropdown list, select the format of the strapping fraction for the strapping table.
The following sub-sections explain the two categories of Strapping Fraction formats.
Dash-separated formats
Options under this category must follow the pattern FTT-IN-XX, where:
-
FTT represents the number of feet, up to 999
-
IN represents the number of inches, up to 11
-
XX represents a fraction of an inch, up to N-1 where N is the denominator of the selected option. For instance, for the 1/16 inch option, XX can be up to 16 - 1 = 15.
For example, if you select 1/32 inch, then a value of 02-07-19 is interpreted as 2 feet, 7 inches, and 19/32 inch.
The supported options are:
-
1/32 inch
-
1/16 inch
-
1/8 inch
-
1/4 inch
-
1/2 inch
-
1 inch
Decimal number formats
Options under this category use a decimal number format as follows:
-
1000th foot = X.XXX
-
100th foot = X.XX
-
100th of a meter = X.XX
-
millimeter = X.XXX
-
rawindex = X.XX
Note: This configuration is independent from the format of the value read by the tank remote and the format used for display purposes. For more information, see Understand Input Level Fraction, Strapping Fraction, and Display Level Format .

In the Tank Volume Offset field, enter the offset volume for the Strapping table.
Note: The Tank Volume Offset is a volume that is added to the gross volume calculation. It is usually used to account for volume displacement within the tank. If you hover over the Tank Volume Offset field, a tool tip will appear to indicate that the volume offset is applied to all volumes in the strapping grid.
