The state of a Physical Valve is determined by the state of the associated status or multistate record. The state of the valve record is updated whenever the associated status or multistate record is updated.
When the status or the multistate record is updated the following occurs:
-
The integer value from the status or the multistate record is read.
-
The message record indicated by the above integer value is found, as the offset from the base message of the message set assigned to the valve record.
-
The state assigned to the message record as part of the valve record configuration is found. This state will be one of the following:
-
Unused
-
Open
-
Closed
-
Transit
-
Error
-
Opening
-
Closing
-
Stopped
This is the state of the status or the multistate record as understood in the Valve application.
-
-
The state of the valve record is determined from the status or the multistate state. In most cases this is the same state.
The following exceptions should be noted:
-
If the state of the status or the multistate is Unused, the valve state will be Error.
-
If the state of the status or the multistate is Transit, the valve state will be one of the following:
-
Opening, if the prior valve state was Closed or Opening.
-
Closing, if the prior valve state was Open or Closing.
-
Transit, if the prior valve state was Error or the current or prior data quality is Stale.
