AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids

Access the Batch Edit dialog

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025
  • 3 minute read

The Batch Edit dialog allows you to edit all batches between any two pipeline nodes.

It also allows you to modify existing, or enter new batch data, in a single operation which commits the changes to the AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids batch tracking sub-system.

The pipeline must have processing deactivated before any batch edits can be done. A confirmation message will appear to confirm the operation. If confirmed (by selecting Yes) the deactivation proceeds and the Batch Edit window will appear.

Note: The pipeline must be deactivated before adding or editing a batch.

To access the Batch Edit dialog

  1. Select Batch Edit on the Pipeline Control window.

  2. When prompted about deactivating the pipeline during batch edit, select Yes.

    The Batch Edit dialog appears.

You can modify the following fields of an existing batch:

  • Product type

  • Batch ID

  • GSV

  • Density

It is possible to insert a new batch between any two existing batches, or before the first or after the last batch, as well as delete any existing batch.

When the Batch Edit changes are submitted to the Batch Tracking sub-system, the system re-calculates all batch and fragment information correctly, adjusting fragments as necessary.

This dialog performs the same tasks as the Fragment Insert and Fragment Edit dialog but provides several added benefits:

  • The entire batch sequence can be viewed.

  • Edits can be made in the context of the batch layup as a whole.

  • Edits do not have to be saved until the entire sequence of edits is entered.

This differs from the Fragment dialog, where each edit must be saved individually. Since the batch volume and position is recalculated after the edits are saved, this enables you to better control of batch location.

The following table details the items on the Batch Edit dialog.

Item

Description

Field or Origin of Value

Row #

For easier identification, a row number is provided for each batch ID.

  • They must begin with a letter.

  • They must be no more than 31 characters in length.

  • The only special characters permitted in the batch ID are the hyphen (-) and the underscore (_).

If the Batch ID fails to meet these standards, an error message will appear. The error message indicates the page and row number where the violation occurred.

Note: The standard batch ID format is defined by your Administrator. For more information, refer to AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids Administrator.
