Automatic pump shutdown using Points of Interest (POI)

Automatic pump shutdown using Points of Interest (POI)

A Point of Interest (POI) of type Shutdown identifies a specific location on the Flow Network that can be leveraged by the Line Blockage application to determine how to perform a shutdown when an abnormal condition is detected by an external application. The Line Blockage application monitors the state of the POI in order to determine if a shutdown is required. When the underlying status or multistate point is toggled by an external application to indicate an abnormal condition, the Line Blockage application will shut down pumps upstream or/and downstream of that POI. The decision to shut down upstream pumps only, downstream pumps only or both depends on the configuration of the individual pumps. For more information on Pump Blocked Rules, refer to "Understand Pump Blockage Definition" in the Administrator guide.

Note: Automatic pump shutdown using POIs will only generate events. If the Ignore flag is activated for a POI, an event indicating that the pump will not shut down is generated. For more information, see Understand pump Line Blockage events.
