Understand Metering-Ticketing (Batch Meter) discontinuation

The Metering-Ticketing application has been replaced by two new applications: Batch Transfer Management and Virtual Flow Computer (VFC).

  • The VFC application monitors the information on fluid flow through a physical metering device. This information includes a volume counter, flow rate, and properties of the fluid. The RealTime database (RTDB) rate and analog records are the primary information source.

  • The Batch Transfer Management application contains the information concerning the batch. Flow information from the VFC is combined with batch schedule information to monitor batch movement through a specific location at the pipeline. The Batch Transfer application can also derive flow information from sources other than the VFC, such as the following:

    • tank records

    • rate records (assuming volume information has been fully corrected at the source Remote Terminal Unit [RTU])

    • flow computer records (for field devices that require more complex interaction)
