Calculate the mass for the Accumulator

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025

The mass delta is calculated based on the volume delta multiplied by the density reading. For more information on calculating the volume delta, see Calculate the volume delta and assess its reasonability.

Accumulator Delta Mass = Delta Volume x Density

Where:

  • If a Delta GSV has been calculated successfully, the system will use the Delta GSV and the Corrected Density.

  • Otherwise, the system will use the Delta IV and the Observed Density.

  • Any required conversion between the units is processed automatically.

  • If no product is assigned to the parent VFC or if the density reading is invalid, the mass Delta is set to 0.

The mass Delta is then applied to the accumulator mass using the following formula:

Accumulator Current Mass = Accumulator Delta Mass + Accumulator Previous Mass

Note: Differential pressure analog inputs calculate the mass differently as shown in Process a differential pressure analog input.
