You can manually start a countdown and have the system automatically stop it when it reaches the target volume. For the Manual (Man) Start/Auto Stop Countdown Type, operations can be initiated manually, but they will also occur automatically whenever a target is reached. The following diagram illustrates the state transitions that occur as part of the Man Start/Auto Stop Countdown Type:

Before you begin
Complete the steps in Schedule a countdown target.
To run a manual start/auto stop countdown
-
On the Countdown Control dialog, select Complete to move the current countdown to the Previous Countdown column, and the pending countdown to the Current Countdown with a mode of Stopped.

-
Select Start.
The countdown starts.
Note: If you stop a countdown, and no pending countdown exists, you can re-start it from zero. If you stop a countdown, and a pending countdown exists, the system completes the current countdown and moves the pending countdown to the Current Countdown column with a mode of Stopped.
When the volume and time reach the values indicated in the Warning fields, the following fields take on a yellow background:
-
Flow Rate
-
Time to Target (hh:mm)
-
Starting Count
When the target is reached, these same fields take on a red background. The colored backgrounds indicate the generation of applicable alarms.

When the system reaches the volume target, one of two things can happen:
-
If no pending countdown exists, the system stops the countdown but does not move it to the Previous Countdown column.
-
If a pending countdown exists, the system:
-
Stops the countdown.
-
Completes it.
-
Moves it to the Previous Countdown column.
-
Moves the pending countdown to the Current Countdown column.
