Understand Pending states

For each of the states, there is a corresponding transitional Pending state:

  • Pending Open

  • Pending Closed

  • Pending Downstream Blocked

  • Pending Upstream Blocked

  • Pending Shut In

  • Pending Blocked

These transitional states operate on the same logic as their non-transitional counterpart, except they indicate that a valve involved in the state calculation is transitioning from open to closed, or vice versa.

The indicated transitional state represents the state that the segment will enter once all valves have completed their transition. For example, once a transitioning valve reaches a Closed state, a segment would be in a Shut In state, then the segment will be set to a Pending Shut In state.

Since this calculation requires that the movement direction of a valve be known, if the valve is in a Transit (unknown direction) state, the valve will be treated as fully open, and pending states will not be applied.
