The Full Automatic countdown allows you to start and stop a countdown by toggling the state of an associated multistate point. The Full Automatic option can be used if the Administrator has configured the countdown to be fully automatic, specified a multistate point, and provided the appropriate mapping of the multistate message set to the start and stop actions.

You may view the multistate point used to provide the Activate Status information within the Countdown Control dialog. The following diagram illustrates the transitions that occur as part of the Full Automatic Countdown Type.

Before you begin

Complete the steps in Schedule a countdown target.

Test run a Full Automatic countdown

  1. In the Activate Status field on the Countdown Control dialog, select the name of the multistate point.

    The Multistate Control dialog appears.

Note: This example uses a multistate point associated with a message set that has the START and STOP entries mapped to the the Start and Stop countdown actions.

    The Multistate Control dialog appears.

  2. In the Manual section of the Multistate Control dialog, do one of the following:

    • If the current state of the point is START:

      1. Select STOP.

      2. Select Submit.

      3. Select START.

      4. Select Submit.

        OR

    • If the current state of the point is STOP:

      1. Select START.

      2. Select Submit.

On the Countdown Control dialog, the Mode field in the Current Countdown column changes from Wait to Active and the countdown starts.

Note: If you stop a countdown and no pending countdown exists, you can only start the current countdown again by toggling the multistate point as described above. If you stop a countdown and a pending countdown exists, the system automatically moves the pending countdown to the Current Countdown column with a mode of Wait.

When the volume and time reach the values indicated in the Warning fields, the following fields take on a yellow background:

      • Flow Rate

      • Time to Target (hh:mm)

      • Starting Count

When the target is reached, these same fields take on a red background. The colored backgrounds indicate the generation of applicable alarms.

    • When the system reaches the volume target, select Stop.

      One of two things occur:

      • If no pending countdown exists, the current countdown remains in the Current Countdown column.

      • If a pending countdown exists, the system:

        • Moves the pending countdown to the Current Countdown column with a mode of Wait.

        • Moves the current countdown to the Previous Countdown column with a mode of Completed.
