AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids

Understand meter extrapolation

Typically, meters are polled in a round-robin scheme. The snapshot of the system that the RealTime database (RTDB) contains is therefore skewed by as much as the time difference between the start and end of the poll cycle. The Meter Extrapolation feature corrects much of this skew by extrapolating meter volumes to the current time.

The formula used to adjust the metered volume is:

where:

Vadj = Meter extrapolation adjusted volume counter.

V = Volume counter for the meter.

mtrrate = Flow rate for the meter at the time of last poll.

currtime = The current time.

polltime = The time of the last poll cycle.

This feature must be configured as enabled for the Pipeline Monitor (plm) record in order to be applied.
