Configure the Analogs tab on the Tank record

The Analogs tab is used to account for the temperature, density, and shell factors that impact the volume of the tank. Using this tab, you can configure the corresponding correction factors to ensure that the adjusted Gross Standard Volume (GSV) of the tank is accurate.

To configure the Analogs tab on the Tank Record

  1. Open the tank record. For more information on opening a tank record, see Opening the Tank Record.

The tank Row Edit dialog appears.

  2. Select the Analogs tab.

    The Analogs tab appears.

  3. If you want the calculation to correct for the effect of the ambient temperature, select the Do Shell Correction checkbox. If you do not select the checkbox, then the calculation does not take ambient temperature into consideration.

  4. In the Ambient Temperature Analog field, click (...) to select the analog value for the outside temperature.

  5. In the Temperature Analog field, click (...) to select the analog point used to obtain the tank temperature. The value from this point can be manually overridden. If this field is left blank, you must manually enter temperatures.

  6. To calculate the Temperature Correction Factor (CTL), select the Calculate Temperature CF checkbox. If not selected, the Tanking application sets the CTL to 1, and the GSV and IV will be equal.

  7. From the Density Source dropdown list, select a density source.

  8. In the Density Analog field, click (...), and select the analog point that supplies observed density information about this tank. If this field is left blank, you can manually enter a value for the observed density.

  9. To indicate whether the value for density has been subject to correction, select the Density Source is Corrected checkbox.

Note: If From product table (corrected) is selected for the Density/Gravity Type, the Density Corrected checkbox will be disabled, and when it is saved it will be checked, as the density from the Product table is corrected for the base temperature and pressure.
