Work with the ALP publish delay functionality

Note: For information on overriding default configuration settings, see Modify configuration settings.

The Advanced Logic Processor (ALP) application relies on the RealTime Publish/Subscribe (PubSub) application to detect value or state changes of the expression input members. The PubSub application uses an event-driven mechanism for signaling, and sometimes this mechanism can cause downstream applications (for example, ALP) to receive transient results that are not intended. Transient results can be caused by timing and are considered rare. To minimize the effect of transient results, ALP has a configurable time delay option to ensure the transient results are stabilized and are considered reliable.

To achieve this reliability, the ALP application does the following:

  1. Stores the transient result in RealTime (that is, the Expression Result field on the ALP Config Detail window).

  2. Waits for the configured time delay for the transient result to stabilize.

  3. Publishes the result as the ALP Result on the ALP Config Detail window.

If the transient result changes during the configured time delay, the result will not be published. A new evaluation will need to occur and the process repeats.

This configurable time delay option is located in the LMS.RealTime.json file in the %DNAInstallRoot%\RealTime\config\Settings\ folder on the RealTime servers. To override the default value, see Understand Advanced Logic Processor (ALP) Global Process Settings.
