Identify the Level to Volume Conversion method

There are two ways the Level (height) to Volume Conversion can be calculated, these methods are:
-
Calculation using either the external strapping table or the tank record strapping table.
The strapping table defines the physical dimensions of the tank as a list of measurements where a volume is assigned to level (height) at various points in the tank. Whenever a tank update is received, a look-up of the strapping table is done to determine the volume from the level, or, the level from the volume.
External strapping table
The external strapping table (also referred to as Extended Strap) is located in the Historical service and is accessed through a web service. This table allows for a large number of entries (up to 2,500). For this type of calculation, the strapping table will need to be configured before the tank record configuration can be completed. For more information, see Configure the Level to Volume for Extended Strap.
Tank record strapping table
The tank record strapping table (also referred to as Legacy Strap) is configured as part of the tank record. This version is limited to 60 entries. For more information, see Configure the Level to Volume tab for Legacy Strap.

Calculation using a custom formula defined via a plugin. For more information on using a custom formula, refer to the Pipeline Operations for Liquids Developer Guide documentation.
