The states of synthetic or logical valves are determined by the states of the associated child valve records. The state of the synthetic or logical valve record is updated whenever its child valve record is updated.
To determine the state of synthetic and logical valves
-
Determine the state of each child valve record.
-
Set the state of the parent valve according to the child valve states and whether the parent valve is configured as having child valves in Series or in Parallel. The parent state is one of the following:
-
Closed, if one of the following is set:
-
Parallel, all valves are Closed.
-
Series, at least one valve is Closed.
-
-
Open, if one of the following is set:
-
Parallel, at least one valve is Open.
-
Series, all valves are Open.
-
-
Closing, if one of the following is set:
-
Parallel, at least one valve is Closing and all others are Closed.
-
Series, at least one valve is Closing and all others not Closed.
-
-
Opening, if one of the following is set:
-
Parallel, at least one valve is Opening and all others are not Open.
-
Series, at least one valve is Opening and all others are Open.
-
-
Error, if one of the following is set:
-
Parallel, at least one valve is in Error and all others are not Open or not Opening.
-
Series, at least one valve is in Error and all others are Open or Opening.
-
-
Transit, if one of the following is set:
-
Parallel, at least one valve is in Transit and all others are Closed or Closing.
-
Series, at least one valve is in Transit and all others are not Closed and not Closing.
-
-
Stopped, if the following is set:
-
Parallel, at least one valve is Stopped and all others are Closed, Closing, or in Transit.
-
Series, at least one valve is Stopped and all others are Open, Opening, or in Error.
