Understand operational use of metering and ticketing as related processes

Only a portion of the Metering-Ticketing (Batch Meter) application may be needed. Having to use the entire application complicates configuration and operations. It also complicates future improvements and fixes. The following key operational scenarios have been identified:

  • Scenario 1: We want the volume quantity data without batching information. This occurs when:

    • A pipeline only transports a single product-type and batching is not needed.

    • Batching is handled in a third-party application.

  • Scenario 2: We need batching but not the validation and correction applied to the volume quantity data. This occurs when:

    • Validation and correction of the meter is handled at the Remote Terminal Unit (RTU), and the rate table data can be used directly without further corrections.

    • A tank is being used as a pseudo meter. The Tank Management application handles validation and correction issues.
