The Main tab enables you to configure basic information about the Point of Interest (POI). Assigning basic details to the Group, Dataset, and Base Message fields define the information available for selection.

To configure the Main Tab of the Point of Interest (POI) record
-
In the Name field, enter the name of the POI within the RealTime database (RTDB).
This value must conform to basic AVEVA Enterprise SCADA naming conventions and be unique for all POI records. For more information, refer to Volume 1 of the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA RealTime Administrator documentation.
-
In the Description field, view a description of the record.
This field is read-only and is not editable from the POI Row Edit dialog. It will display the value stored with the underlying multistate or status record.
Note: This value can be edited from the multistate or status Row Edit dialog.
-
In the Group field, click (...) to select the group associated with the POI from the group Select dialog.
For more information about groups, refer to the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA Tools Administrator documentation.
-
In the Station field, view the station associated with the record.
This field is read-only and is not editable from the POI Row Edit dialog. It will display the value stored with the underlying multistate or status record.
Note: This value can be edited from the multistate or status Row Edit dialog.
-
In the Point Class field, view the point class categorization associated with the record.
This field is read-only and is not editable from the POI Row Edit dialog. It will display the value stored with the underlying multistate or status record.
Note: This value can be edited from the multistate or status Row Edit dialog.
-
In the Point SubClass field, view the point subclass categorization for the valve record.
This field is read-only and is not editable from the POI Row Edit dialog. It will display the value stored with the underlying multistate or status record.
Notes: This value can be edited from the multistate or status Row Edit dialog.
The Point Class field enables you to configure alarm severity. For further information about the Point Class and Point SubClass fields, refer to Volume 1 of the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA RealTime Administrator documentation.
-
In the Dataset field, click (...) to define the dataset associated with the POI from the doas_dataset dialog.
Once a record is assigned to a dataset value, the dataset can only be changed to a value for which the system has a privilege record. A record's dataset cannot be changed in such a way that the system can no longer access the record.
-
In the Base Message field, click (...) and select the base message associated with the POI record from the Message Select dialog.
-
From the Point of Interest Type dropdown list, choose a value for this POI record. Available types include the following:
-
Undefined โ No applications will use this point for any logic.
-
Shutdown โ The Line Blockage application will use this point to perform shutdown logic.
-
-
In the Path field, click (...) to select the path to the status or multistate point.
Note: Until a table and record are selected, you will not be able to click Accept. For more information about how to select a pathway, refer to Volume 1 of the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA RealTime Administrator documentation.
-
Click State Configuration to display the State Configuration dialog.

The State Configuration dialog enables you to map each message set entry on the selected status or multistate point to a POI state. The POI state can be used by other applications to determine how to respond to changes.
By default, the POI message set contains two states: Enabled and Disabled. For POIs of type Shutdown, the Line Blockage application will interpret these states as follows:
-
Disabled: If the current state of the status or multistate point maps to Disabled, the shutdown logic will not be executed.
-
Enabled: If the current state of the status or multistate point maps to Enabled, the shutdown logic will be executed.
-
-
When you are done selecting the State Type for each message set entry, select Accept.
-
Select the Ignore checkbox to indicate to other applications that this POI record should not be used to trigger actions in response to state changes. For example, for POIs of type Shutdown, Line Blockage will not execute shutdown logic if the Ignore flag is set, even if the POI state changes to Enabled.
Note: The POI record will continue to calculate state changes regardless of whether this checkbox is selected.
