Define the level or volume source

If an analog or rtstring record is to be used, it must be created prior to defining the level or volume source. For more information, see Configuring the Remote Input Tab of the Tank Record.

  1. Set the Source Type.

    • If the Source Type is Direct Field Source, set the fields in the Direct Field Source area and the Point Configuration area.

    • If the Source Type is OASyS RealTime Source, set the RealTime Source field.

  2. Set the Remote Type. This describes the meaning of the data input from the tank. The possible options are as follows:

    1. Level input:

      1. Level (incr). The value can be read as an integer without loss of precision. One unit of this type is the smallest unit of measurement of height for the strapping table. For example, if the strapping height is measured in feet-inches-eighths, one level unit represents one eighth of an inch.

      2. Level (Gray code). The value has the same meaning as Level(incr) except coding is in Gray code (also known as reflected binary code). Gray code is a binary encoding of numbers such that adjacent numbers have a single binary digit differing by one (1).

      3. Level (eng units). The value is a floating point number representing meters or feet.

    2. Volume input:

      1. GO volume. The value is a floating point number that is corrected as a Gross Observed Volume (GOV).

      2. GS volume. The value is a floating point number that is corrected as a Gross Standard Volume (GSV).

If the data input goes out of range, an alarm will be raised if enabled. The enabling/disabling is done on the Alarming tab.

    3. Set the Input Level Fraction.

The Input Level Fraction option describes the fraction type the remote device is using to report information on the level of the tank. It is useful in scenarios where a tank remote provides readings using a fraction that is different from the one used in the Tank Strapping configuration. This option only applies when the Remote Type is set to Level. For more information, see Understand Input Level Fraction, Strapping Fraction, and Display Level Format .
