If polled devices are available that can be used to determine whether flow into and/or out of the tank is occurring, references to them can be entered in the rows in the Tank Idle/Flow Configuration area of the Auto Idle / Ext Flow tab. This information will allow a flow state to be indicated to the Controller. The possible states are the following:
-
Unused (no configured devices)
-
Flow In
-
Flow Out
-
Flow In/Out (also referred to as a Floating state)
-
Idle Test Only (no flow)
-
Idle (no flow and Auto Idle checkbox is set)
The Idle and Idle Test Only states occur when all flow into and out of the tank is closed off. The difference being that the Idle state can be used for level creep checking and the Idle Test Only cannot.
If the Settling Time field is configured, creep checking will not apply after flow is closed off until the configured time has elapsed.
For more information, see Configure the Auto Idle/Ext Flow tab of the Tank record .
