The Meter Correction Factor (MCF) is value is a compensation factor which accounts for non-ideal mechanical effects such as bearing friction, fluid drag, and mechanical or electrical readout drag. There are three ways to define the appropriate correction factor:
-
defining a "constant"
-
relying on information from an analog point
-
applying the configured meter correction factor
To configure the MCF tab of the accumulator record
-
From the virtualflowcomputer Row Edit dialog of your desired record, create an accumulator record. For more information on creating an accumulator record, see Create an Accumulator record.
The accumulator Row Edit dialog appears.

-
Select the MCF tab.
The MCF tab appears.

Note: The Name and Virtual Flow Computer fields are read-only. These fields are populated when you create your accumulator record.
-
(Optional) In the Description field, enter a description.
-
To apply the MCF correction on the Virtual Flow Computer (VFC) application, select the Apply MCF checkbox. If not selected, the MCF correction will default to 1.
-
From the MCF Method dropdown, select a method to use for correction. There are three options available for selection:
-
Read from analog point
-
Use configured constant value
-
Meter factor configuration
-
-
In the MCF Constant field, enter an initialized value for the Controller-entered MCF.
Note: This field is only available if you have selected Use operator-entered value as the MCF Method.
-
In the MCF Analog field, click (...) to select the analog point that will provide the MCF. This field allows you to gather correction factor information from a device, or a third-party application, if desired.
