Common utilities

Common utilities are designed to be shared by multiple applications. For example, the product type (prodtype) and product group (prodgroup) information provided by the prodtype and prodgroup tables is used by Metering, Batch Transfer, Batch Tracking, and Tanking.

AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids uses the prodgroup and prodtype tables to store information about products. The prodgroup table defines general groups of products, and the prodtype table then allows you to provide specific information about each product type. This is illustrated in the example below. The term product in this manual is used to refer to all types of liquid hydrocarbons, including crudes, refined products, and NGLs (Natural Gas Liquids).
