Add a new fragment

To add a new fragment

1. Enter the Batch ID for the new fragment.

   1. If a new batch is to be created:

      • Enter the ID of the batch in the Batch ID text box.

        Batch IDs must adhere to the following standards:

      • They must begin with a letter.

      • They must be no more than 31 characters in length.

      • The only special characters permitted in the batch ID are the hyphen (-) and the underscore (_).

        If the Batch ID fails to meet these standards, an error message will appear.

        Note: These standards can be modified by your Administrator. Refer to AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids Administrator documentation for more information.

   2. If the batch already exists in the pipeline:

      1. Click Current Batches.

         The Batch Select dialog will appear.

      2. Select the ID of the desired batch from the list.

         This ID will appear in the Batch ID text box and the product of the selected batch will appear beside the Product Type label.

2. Select the product if a new batch is to be created.

   3. Click the (...) button by the Product Type label.

      The Product Type Select dialog will appear.

   4. Select the desired product.

      The name of the selected product will appear beside the Product Type label.

3. If a new batch is to be created, enter the density in the Density text box.

   The units that the density should be entered in are listed alongside the Density text box.

4. Enter the volume of the new fragment in the Gross Standard Volume (GSV) text box.

   The units that the volume information should be entered in are listed alongside the GSV text box.

5. Enter any desired comments other than the default comment in the Notes text box.

6. Select position from the Position dropdown menu. There are a few options available for selection:

   • If Initial is selected, the new fragment will be inserted before the first fragment listed in the Fragments section.

   • If After is selected, the new fragment will be inserted after the fragment selected in the next step.

   • If Before is selected, the new fragment will be inserted before the fragment selected in the next step.

7. If Before or After is selected, select the reference fragment:

   5. Select the (...) button to the right of the Fragment label.

      The Fragment Select dialog will appear with a list of the batch IDs of the fragments in the segment.

   6. Select the desired fragment.

      The batch ID selected will appear beside the Fragment label. The fragment will be inserted at the position you selected at the previous step. For instance, if you wanted your fragment to appear "after Fragment 2", you would select a Position of After, and Fragment 2 from the Fragment Select dialog.

8. If the pipeline is active, deactivate by clearing the Pipeline Active checkbox and confirming when the confirmation dialog appears.

9. Click the Insert Fragment button and confirm when the confirmation dialog appears.

   Insertion will proceed and the results will appear after a few seconds in the Fragments section.

10. The pipeline can be reactivated using the Pipeline Active checkbox or reactivated later.
