Downstream capacity check

When a pump is configured to verify that a delivery device can be reached, an additional option of verifying that the segments between the pump and the delivery device can support the pump can be configured in the Minimum Downstream Capacity field of the pump record. For more information, see Pump configuration.

Each segment in the Flow Network can be assigned a Capacity value. When Line Blockage verifies that a pump is not blocked, it will sum the capacity of all paths to all delivery devices that are currently connected to a pump.

In the example below, the pump blocked rule has been configured to Downstream Blocked with a minimum downstream capacity of 12. Both segments prior to a delivery tank have a capacity of 6. Due to this configuration, the pump would be considered blocked when either valve was closed.

The downstream capacity will be calculated as the capacity of the shortest path between a pump and a delivery device. Parallel path routes that rejoin and connect to the same delivery device will not be summed.
