AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids

Pump management application

Pump objects are designed to represent physical pumps within a pipeline. They interact directly with status or multistate points, which provide telemetry information for pump objects.

Status or multistate points are designed to reflect the different states of a field device, regardless of what device type actually exists. Each state is fully configurable and represents whatever you define. Due to this flexibility, applications cannot interpret what these states may actually represent. For example, a multistate with a state zero may represent either a running or stopped pump depending on how it is configured. Pump objects provide a bridge between field telemetry and user-defined states that applications can understand, which can then provide additional information to you.

Pump objects are designed to integrate with the Flow Network and Line Blockage applications to allow you to see more information about whether it is safe to open and close the pump, and to trace how the pump object interacts with the larger network of valves, tanks, and meters that it is a part of.

The following sections will assist you in accessing and controlling pumps in an operating environment.
