The Inhibit tab enables you to inhibit various aspects of the Virtual Flow Computer (VFC), which in turn, changes what the Controller sees. Applying these filters can reduce the number of nuisance alarms that are listed in the Alarm Summary, as well as the number of events listed in the Event Summary.

To inhibit alarms and events associated with the VFC

  1. Open the virtualflowcomputer record. For more information on opening a virtualflowcomputer record, see Open a Virtual Flow Computer record.

The virtualflowcomputer Row Edit dialog appears.

  2. Select the Inhibits tab.

    The Inhibits tab appears.

  3. To ensure that the VFC and all of the associated accumulators will not be used, select the Inhibit checkbox. No information is gathered from the record.

  4. (Optional) To configure a status or multistate point that will indicate when the record should be inhibited, select the Enable auto inhibit checkbox.

  5. (Optional) If Enable auto inhibit is selected, in the Auto inhibit path field, click (...) to select the status or multistate point that identifies whether the virtualflowcomputer record should be designated as inhibited or enabled.

  6. (Optional) If Enable auto inhibit is selected, in the Auto inhibit states field, enter one or more integers separated by commas. Each integer represents a status or multistate state that, if present, designates the virtualflowcomputer record as inhibited.

  7. (Optional) If Enable auto inhibit is selected, in the Enable states field, enter one or more integers separated by commas. Each integer represents a status or multistate state that, if present, designates the virtualflowcomputer record as enabled.

Note: If a status or multistate state is not specified in the Auto inhibit states or Enable states fields, by default, the virtualflowcomputer record will be designated as enabled.

  8. To prevent alarms that indicate an abnormal (off-normal) situation from being recorded in the Alarm Summary, select the Off-Normal Alarm checkbox.

  9. To prevent alarms that provide information about normal occurrences from being recorded in the Alarm Summary, select the Normal Alarm checkbox.

  10. To prevent events that indicate an abnormal (off-normal) situation from being recorded in the Event Summary, select the Off-Normal Log checkbox.

  11. To prevent events that indicate a normal situation from being recorded in the Event Summary, select the Normal Log checkbox.

  12. To prevent alarms that are associated with a Meter Factor (mtrfact) record, select the Meter Factor Generated Alarm checkbox.

  13. To prevent events that are associated with a mtrfact record, select the Meter Factor Generated Event checkbox.
