Use the Tank Control dialog to control a tank.

The following table lists the action items and fields on the Tank Control dialog.

Fields

Description

Tank Number

The assigned tank number.

Level Format

This field indicates the level fraction format used to display all the Level values in the tank eXtended Operator Station (ezXOS) displays, alarm limits, and alarm messages.

Temp Factor

The temperature correction factor.

Density

The density of the product in the tank. The units displayed reflect the unit profile selected.

Auto Idle

The idle state of a tank can be defined by one of two conditions. You can manually mark a tank idle, or it can be automatically marked idle based on up to ten comparisons corresponding to the Value of the analog point or the State of the status or multistate point. Deviation alarms are based on the idle state of the tank. To enable AVEVA Enterprise SCADA to declare the tank idle based on the comparison results of the analog point’s valve against the configured value or status/multistate’s state against the configured state:

  1. In the Auto Idle section of the Tank Control dialog, select Auto Idle.

If all comparisons are true, then the tank will be declared idle after your configured time period (configured to allow for settling) has passed.

  2. To prevent AVEVA Enterprise SCADA from declaring the tank idle when all of the comparisons succeed, clear the Auto Idle checkbox.

Note: All flow rate calculations (GO, GS, Averages, Smoothed Averages) are performed—regardless of the Auto Idle state of the tank.

Operator Idle

The idle state of a tank can be defined by one of two conditions. You can manually mark a tank idle, or it can be automatically marked idle based on up to ten comparisons corresponding to the Value of the analog point or the State of the status or multistate point. Deviation alarms are based on the idle state of the tank.

To manually force the tank into an idle state:

  1. Select the Operator Idle checkbox on the Tank Control dialog.

To place the tank back into active mode, which allows tank levels to change without causing deviation alarms:

  2. Clear the Operator Idle checkbox.

Note: All flow rate calculations (GO, GS, Averages, Smoothed Averages) are performed—regardless of the Operator Idle state of the tank.

    Product Type

The product type currently contained in the tank.

To select a new product type from the Tank Control dialog:

    1. In the Product Type field, select the arrow to call up the prodtype Select dialog.

    2. In the Product Type Select dialog, select a product type.

The selected product appears in the New Type field.

      Mixers 1-5

To turn on a tank mixer:

      • In the Mixer 1, Mixer 2, Mixer 3, Mixer 4, or Mixer 5 section, select On.

To turn off a tank mixer:

      • In the Mixer 1, Mixer 2, Mixer 3, Mixer 4, or Mixer 5 section, select Off.

Scratch Pad / Vol to Pump

AVEVA Enterprise SCADA provides a scratch pad to enable you to convert a tank level to a tank volume, and vice versa, based on:

      • The strapping table

      • Snow load

      • Roof correction

To calculate the volume from the tank level:

        1. In the Level field, enter the tank level.

        2. Select Submit Scratch Level.

        3. The volume is then calculated and displayed in the Volume field.

To calculate the tank level from the tank volume:

        4. In the Volume field, type the tank volume.

        5. Select Submit Scratch Volume.

        6. The tank level is calculated and displayed in the Level field.

The Vol to Pump field displays the volume of liquid in the tank, excluding the tank bottom volume. The units are inherited from the unit profile.
