To edit a fragment
-
Whether the pipeline is active or inactive, the following attributes can be changed:
-
Density
-
Enter the desired value in the Density field.
Notes: This changes the density for the entire batch. The mass for the batch and all the associated fragments are recalculated using the new density.
The units that the density should be entered in are listed alongside the Density field. When the batch is active, you cannot edit the Density field.

Comments
-
Enter the new comment in the Notes field.

The pipeline can be deactivated by clearing the Pipeline Active checkbox and selecting Yes when the confirmation dialog appears. If the pipeline is inactive, the following attributes can be changed:
-
Size.
-
Enter a positive value for a fragment size increase or a negative value for a size decrease in the Increment Gross Standard Volume (GSV) field. The volume units associated with the GSV calculations are listed.
-
Select Resize Fragment and confirm when the confirmation dialog appears.
When a fragment is resized, the difference between the old volume and the new volume results in a positive or negative delta. This delta is used to recalculate mass for the fragment and the batch using the following formulas:
Fragment mass = Fragment mass + (delta size x batch density)
Batch mass = Batch mass + (delta size x batch density)
-
-
Merge with Previous
-
Select Merge with Previous.
-
Select Yes on the confirmation dialog.
This action will merge this fragment's current GSV into the previous fragment. The previous fragment will be resized to include the current GSV for this and the previous fragment. The current fragment will then be removed. The Merge with Previous function is enabled if there is a fragment before this one in the same pipe segment.
This merge operation causes the previous fragment to increase in size. The difference between the old volume and the new volume results in a positive delta. This delta is used to recalculate mass for the previous fragment and the batch it is associated with using the following formulas:
Fragment mass = Fragment mass + (delta size x batch density)
Batch mass = Batch mass + (delta size x batch density)
If the previous fragment and the current fragment were associated with different batches before the merge, the density of the batch associated with the previous fragment will be used in the formulas above.
-
-
Merge with Next
-
Select Merge with Next.
-
Select Yes on the confirmation dialog.
This action will merge this fragment’s current GSV into the next fragment. The next fragment is resized to include the current GSV for this and the next fragment. The current fragment will then be removed. This Merge with Next function is enabled when there is a fragment after this one in the same pipe segment.
This merge operation causes the next fragment to increase in size. The difference between the old volume and the new volume results in a positive delta. This delta is used to recalculate mass for the next fragment and the batch it is associated with using the following formulas:
Fragment mass = Fragment mass + (delta size x batch density)
Batch mass = Batch mass + (delta size x batch density)
If the next fragment and the current fragment were associated with different batches before the merge, the density of the batch associated with the next fragment will be used in the formulas above.

-
Fragment deletion
-
Select Delete Fragment, and then click Yes when the confirmation dialog appears.
-
-
Batch deletion
-
Select Delete Batch, and then click Yes when the confirmation dialog appears.
This action deletes all fragments for the batch on whichever segment in the pipeline that they appear on.
-
-
Reassignment of the fragment to a different batch
-
Select (...) from the New Batch ID label.
The Batch Select dialog will appear.
-
Select the batch to which the fragment will be reassigned.
The selected batch ID will appear beside the New Batch ID label.
-
Select Reassign Batch, and then click Yes when the confirmation dialog appears.
Once complete, the mass of each fragment associated with the new batch is recalculated using the fragment size and density of the new batch.
