Set up Product Groups that use the same API volume correction methods.

prodgroup row edit

To set up the Product Group (prodgroup) record

  1. Enter the Name of the Product Group.

  2. Enter a Description.

The Description entered can be up to 47 characters in length. This field is for information purposes only, and it can be designed to describe the record, its association with other points or any other textual information.

  3. Enter the name of the Commodity represented by the product group.

Note: This field is for information purposes only, although it can be used to identify the commodity that the product group represents.

  4. From the Netting Algorithm field, select the netting algorithm used to apply the correction factors in order to correct the volume measurement of the fluid associated with the product group. Selection criteria for the netting algorithm are described in API Correction Configuration.

  5. Select the Correction Library used to provide the correction factor information to the AVEVA Pipeline Operations for Liquids application from one of the following options:

    • API 2004 – Selected by default.

    • API 1980

    • REFPROP Volume

    • REFPROP Mass

    • API 11.3.2.1 1st Ed. Ethylene

API 2004 and 1980 provide correction factors for the temperature and pressure, in addition to a corrected density value. The REFPROP Mass and REFPROP Volume calculations apply no temperature or pressure calculation and only correct density. API 11.3.2.1 1st Ed. Ethylene applies a procedure to calculate the quantity of Ethylene.

In the event that REFPROP Mass is selected, the linepack of a pipe segment will be calculated in pounds rather than the volume unit selected in the assigned Unit Profile (unitprofile) record, even though the associated volume units will still appear on the Controller’s windows. This means that when you are configuring the associated Pipe Segment (pipe_segment)record, the values entered there (for example, for Capacity) will need to be entered as they appear in the Unit Profile (unitprofile). The REFPROP Mass library will then convert from volumes to mass. The Temperature Correction Table, Pressure Correction Table, and Density Correction Table entries below are only required for API Calculations. For more information, see the API sections under Common Utilities.

In the event that API 11.3.2.1 1st Ed. Ethylene is selected, the product types within this group are assumed to be Ethylene. For Orifice meters, the product types can be configured with Compressible Product set to false, or set to true and have Compressibility set at base conditions.

For non-Orifice meters, the product types must be configured with Compressible Product set to true, and have Compressibility set at base conditions.

  6. Select the Temperature Correction Table to define the API correction table used to get the temperature correction factor.

Note: Selection criteria for the Temperature Correction Table is described more thoroughly elsewhere in this guide. For more information, see the API sections under Common Utilities.

It is important that the correction tables selected for the temperature, pressure, and density be consistent with one another. Only certain table combinations are considered valid. In the event that an invalid combination has been entered, an error message will be displayed in the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA Error Log (OasErrLog.log), and no temperature, pressure, or density corrections will be applied. For information about which correction tables to use, see the API sections under Common Utilities.

  7. Select the Pressure Correction Table to define the API correction table used to get the pressure correction factor.

Note: Selection criteria for the Pressure Correction Table is described more thoroughly elsewhere in this guide. For more information, see the API sections under Common Utilities.

  8. Select the Density Correction Table to define the API correction table used to correct the density to standard temperature.

Note: Selection criteria for the Density Correction Table is described more thoroughly elsewhere in this guide. For more information, see the API sections under Common Utilities.

  9. Select Save. You will notice that the value listed in the Volume Units field reflects the unit of measure used by the selected Temperature Correction Table.

  10. Optional: If you would like to use extended seven decimal precision rounding for the correction factor for the effect of temperature on steel (CTS) and the correction factor for the effect of pressure on steel (CPS), select the Extend Decimal Precision for CTS and CPS checkbox.

Note: By default, four decimal precision rounding is used for CTS and CPS.
