Understand segment and node product

Segments and Nodes keep track of what product is currently being supplied by the Injection devices. A slot reference to the prodtype table is stored in the RealTime database (RTDB) in the fnet table in the column segments[SegmentNumber].state.product for segments and nodes[NodeNumber].state.product for nodes, or in the State.Product property for any topographical device in the Flow Network API.

If a segment or node has one or more injection devices connected to it, and those injection devices are all using the same product, then the product of these injection devices will be assigned to the topographical element. If the injection devices have different products, then the segment or node will be assigned as having a Mixed Product. The value of this is stored in the constant FlowNetworkConstants.MixedProducts in the Flow Network API. The only exception to this rule is if one of the conflicting products is defined as Unknown, in which case, the known product will override the unknown product.

In the example below, the top meter is providing product G31, and the bottom meter is providing product G32. The first two segments attached to each meter both report only the product from their meter, as the check valve prevents the conflicting product from reaching their segments. The first horizontal segment after the meters meet reports a product mix, as both G31 and G32 have entered this segment.

The second and third horizontal segments both report no product because the second segment is closed, preventing product from reaching the third segment. The third segment does not receive product from the delivery tank, as it is not injecting product into the Flow Network.
