Creates a planar surface at a grid position or along a main axis.
Methods to create a planar surface include:
|
Offset |
Defines an offset value that is added to the selected grid position when creating the surface. |
|
X |
Switches the view to the X-axis plane and allows creation of a polyface surface using X-axis grid positions. |
|
Y |
Switches the view to the Y-axis plane and allows creation of a polyface surface using Y-axis grid positions. |
|
Z |
Switches the view to the Z-axis plane and allows creation of a polyface surface using Z-axis grid positions. |
|
Plane |
Creates a polyface surface at a specified absolute coordinate instead of a grid-defined location. |
|
Points |
Creates a polyface surface defined by three indicated points. The surface is generated from the inclined plane formed by these points. |
|
Angles |
Creates a polyface surface from angles. Specify a location along one main axis, then define angles as necessary. The surface is created as an inclined plane based on the supplied angles. |
|
2 Points + Angle |
Creates a planar surface from two defined points and an angle. The resulting plane is determined by the angle applied around the first point relative to the line connecting the two points.
|
|
Rectangle |
Creates a rectangular planar surface from defined corner locations on an orthogonal plane (X, Y, or Z), using either grid planes or absolute planes. |
Create a Planar Surface
-
On the Common Reference tab, in the Create group, select Surface.
By default, the system prompts you to specify a location along the X-axis.
-
(Optional) To choose a different creation option, press the down arrow and select from available options:

-
Follow the prompts to indicate the locations appropriate for the selected creation mode.
-
Press Enter to accept the chosen locations.
The system creates the planar surface and stores it as a SRFSUR element.

You can modify the surface at any time in the Properties window. See Properties for more information.
