Marks for Assembly (GSD)

One of the major shipyard requirements is to reduce the need for additional fitting during assembly, thereby reducing production time. One way to achieve this is to improve fabrication accuracy done at the part level by introducing new technology and equipment. Another method is to improve accuracy throughout the assembly process, preferably at each step, so that accumulated errors are reduced.
An important means of improving accuracy in both fabrication and assembly is the use of assembly marks (GSDs Gütesicherungsdreiecke (“quality assurance triangles”) in the hull application). These marks are used both for alignment during assembly and for accuracy checks after assembly.
There are two types of GSDs: a symmetric triangle with a 90 deg angle, and a straight line. When viewed in isolation, you can’t determine which of the two "tips" (or ends) of a GSD is significant—for example, for a marking line. Therefore, the use of a GSD is defined by the context in which it appears. For more information see Marks for Assembly and refer to Part Generation window.
Note:The existing GSD/alignment marking functionality has been extended to support face plates. New configuration options are now available during part generation processing, see Production Design Configurations Window. Plates and profiles are stored in the MANU database as a PPLATE/PPROF attribute.
