Use Auto Positioning (AutoPos) to configure the parts. By default, the AutoPos uses the default configuration. You can create and manage additional configurations.
AutoPos configuration actions
Specifies the actions to manage AutoPos configurations. For more information on how to use the configuration actions, see the Production Design Configurations Window.
AutoPos configuration definition
Specifies the details of an AutoPos configuration.

Name |
Specifies a unique name for the configuration. |
|
Description |
Provides a brief description of the configuration's purpose. |
AutoPos part assignment
Specifies how parts are assigned and ordered.

PartTypes(s) |
Specifies the types of parts to be included in the configuration; for example, BracketPlate, PlanarPlate, or DoublingPlate. |

Add |
Adds a new row to create an additional part type. |
|
|
Remove |
Removes the selected part type. |
|
|
Min # |
Specifies the minimum number of parts included; for example, 1. |
|
|
Max # |
Specifies the maximum number of parts included; for example, 9999. |
|
|
Sorting |
Specifies whether parts are arranged in ascending or descending order; for example, LENGTH-DES / LOCZ-ASC. |

|
Tolerances |
Specifies the allowed limits of part positioning. After you define tolerances, a summary is displayed using the following abbreviations: T – Thickness L – Length W – Width A – Area C – Contour length For example, T:0/L:2/W:0/A:0/C:0. |

Sym |
Indicates whether symmetric positioning rules are applied. |

Part Types
Specifies which part types are available and selected for the configuration.

Available Types |
Lists all the available part types. |
|
Selected Types |
Lists all the selected part types. |
|
Add |
Moves the selected part type from the Available Types to the Selected Types. |
|
Remove |
Removes the selected part types from the Selected Types and returns them to the Available Types. |
Position Range / Sorting / Symmetry
Specifies the position numbering range, sorting order, and symmetry behavior.

Position number range |
Specifies the numeric range of part's position. |
|
|
Min # |
Specifies the lowest allowable position number. |
|
|
Max # |
Specifies the highest allowable position number. |
|
|
Sorting |
Specifies how position numbers are ordered. |
|
|
Primary |
Specifies the primary sorting order (ascending or descending). By default, the value is set to <unset>. Available options include: Location along X, Location along Y, Location along Z, Material, Length, Width, Area, Thickness, and Profile name. |

Secondary |
Specifies the secondary sorting order. By default, the value is set to <unset>. |
|
|
Order |
Select Asc for ascending order or Des for descending order. |
|
|
Symmetry |
Consider Symmetry |
Applies symmetry rules when assigning position numbers. |
Tolerances
Specifies the tolerances for the selected part types. If the differences between part property values are within the defined tolerances, the system assigns the same position number to those parts.
For planar and curved plates, no tolerances can be defined. Planar and curved plates always receive individual position numbers.
The following tolerances are available for other plates types, depending on the selected part type:

By default, all tolerance values are set to 0 mm.
