Variant/Chamfer Configuration

Defines when a chamfer is required for plates in a butt joint. You can configure parameters such as tolerance, chamfer angle, and width, and define the rules used to calculate the chamfer. The functionality supports stable limit ranges rather than a single limit, enabling automatic calculation and variant selection for different plate thicknesses and connection types.

Variant/Chamfer Configuration Definition

Name

Defines the Name of the Variant / Chamfer Configuration set.

Description

Defines the Description of the Variant / Chamfer Configuration set.

General Settings

Variant 0 Tolerance

Defines a tolerance for assessing whether the surfaces of the plates coincide. When the positional difference is less than or equal to the specified tolerance, the surfaces are considered to coincide.

The default value is 0.5 mm.

If the thickness difference is smaller than or equal to the tolerance value, no chamfer is required. The application treats the weld connection as Variant 0.

Same plate thickness.

Thickness difference < tolerance.

If the thickness difference exceeds the tolerance value, a chamfer is required. The applied variant depends on the configuration rules.

Thickness difference > tolerance.

Chamfer Type

Defines the chamfer type.

Normal

The chamfer edge of the thicker plate is higher than the upper edge of the thinner plate.

Wide

The chamfer edge of the thicker plate is equal to the upper edge of the thinner plate.

Chamfer Angle

Defines the chamfer angle.

Enter a value in degrees.

E-Measure Calc Mode

Defines how the e-measure is calculated.

Thickness Difference

The e-measure is calculated based on the difference in plate thickness.

Angle

The e-measure is calculated based on an angle between the planes.

Chamfer Parallel Planes Limit

Defines when to add an automatic chamfer between nearly parallel planes.

Open Side Chamfer criteria

Defines criteria for chamfer use on the open side of bevels, including both sides of X-bevels and the open side of V-bevels and Y-bevels.

Smaller Plate Thickness

Defines the maximum thickness of the smaller plate.

Thickness Difference

Defines when a chamfer is required based on the thickness difference. A chamfer is required when the difference exceeds the specified value.

Square Side Chamfer Criteria

Defines the criteria for chamfer on both sides of square butts and on the negative side of V-bevels and Y-bevels.
