Rule Validity and Ancillary Defaults Validity

The Validate Ancillaries window shows the status of rule checks and ancillary default checks for each ancillary. These checks help you confirm that design condition changes or rule updates haven’t made an ancillary invalid.

The Rule Validity column shows whether the ancillary passes rule validation.

The Ancillary Defaults Validity columns show whether the ancillary’s default values remain valid.

Status indicators:

Hover over an invalid column to display a tooltip summarizing the problem.

Invalid Results Caused by Design Condition Modification

If a pipe’s design conditions change after an ancillary is created, both rule validity and default validity may be affected.

For example, if a branch temperature was originally 100degC and later changed to 220degC, rules and default values for the selected BT01A ancillary both become invalid.

Supports rules can be modified using the Rule Manager window in the Paragon module. Refer to Create or Modify Rule Set and Modify a Rule Set in Supports for further information. If you do not have the required permissions to modify rules, contact your administrator.

Invalid Results Caused by Rule Modification

Rules may change after ancillaries are placed on a pipe. These changes can invalidate an ancillary or prevent the system from selecting the most appropriate ancillary.

For example, application defaults may not restrict material selection, but a rule might be added that limits an ancillary to allow SS material only.

It may be necessary to remove this restriction from the rule set using Rule Manager in Paragon. Refer to Create or Modify Rule Set for more information. If you do not have the required permissions to modify rules, contact your administrator.
