Bevel Variants

A variant modifies a bevel to account for specific conditions, for example by adding a chamfer to the thicker plate. The application automatically evaluates a bevel variant by analyzing the geometric relationship between connected plates. It first verifies a valid geometric reference (coincident surfaces or center planes), then compares the plate thicknesses.
Based on the thickness difference, the shared reference plane, and the required treatment of the thicker plate, the corresponding bevel variant is selected according to predefined bevel handling rules.
The following describes each bevel type for butt welding, in text and with corresponding illustrations.
