Save a symmetry plane to use for future symmetrical CRM element creation. After saving a plane, you can select it easily from the Duplicate group on the Common Reference tab when creating mirrored elements. See Mirror Plane for more information.

For more information on mirrored element creation, see Symmetric Creation.

Save a symmetry plane

  1. On the Admin tab, in the Space Management group, select Symmetry Plane.

The Store Symmetry Plane window opens:

  2. In the Name box, enter a name for the stored symmetry plane, for example, PS-M.

  3. In the Plane box, enter a plane, for example, Y5000, X2300, or FR27.

If you enter an incompatible value, the text appears red.

  4. Alternatively, you can select Select to define the symmetry plane interactively in the 3D view.

By default you are asked to choose along the X axis.

    1. (Optional) Press the down arrow to choose a different plane option, such as Grid Plane or inclined planes (by Points, Angles, or 2 Points + Angle).

    2. Press Enter.

The value appears in the Plane box:

  5. In the Positive direction name box, enter a name for the positive direction. For example, PORT.

  6. In the Negative direction name box, enter a name for the negative direction. For example, STARBOARD.

  7. Select Store.

The new symmetry plane is saved, and is available to use in the Duplicate group.

Remove a stored symmetry plane

  1. Open the Store Symmetry Plane window.

  2. In the Name box, select the name of the stored symmetry plane you wish to remove from the dropdown list, for example, PS-M.

  3. Select Remove.

The application removes the stored symmetry plane.
