It is important to distinguish RBS rules from rules used by other disciplines.
RBS rule sets have their own set of purposes: ANSP, ANSH, ANSC, and RRLS. See Rule Set Purposes for descriptions of each.
For more information on creating rule sets, see Create Rule Set.
You can create the ancillary rules hierarchy in one of two ways:
-
By selecting Create Rule Set from the Rules group.
-
By selecting New Rule in Ancillaries for Rules. For more information, see Create a New Rule in Ancillary for Rules.
Create an RBS Rule Set
-
Navigate to the hierarchy position where you want to create the rule set.
-
Create the rule set as usual.
The application tries to create a RLSET at the current hierarchy position.
If located at the WORL level, the application asks if a new RLSWL should be created:

-
Select Yes to create a new RLSWL in the current database (DB).
Note: Ensure you are located in the correct DB before selecting Yes.
The application creates
-
a RLSWL with the PURP set to RMDS and
-
a RLSET with the PURP set to the selected Purpose in the dropdown menu.
There are no strict requirements for structuring RBS rules. However, best practice is to keep Rule Set Rules (RRLS) in a separate RLSWL from ancillary rules (ANSP, ANSH, ANSC).
