P&ID Viewer

  • Last UpdatedJun 22, 2026
  • 3 minute read

The P&ID Viewer enables you to locate P&ID sheet(s) for selected Engineering (P&ID) elements and supports open and zoom-in operations.

A P&ID Viewer instance is available in both the Integrator Results window and the Integrator Build window. See Integrator Results and Integrator Build.

When you select a row in the grid, the viewer automatically loads the P&ID information linked to the Engineering elements. It identifies the corresponding Draw sheet (SHEE) for the P&ID Engineering sheet (ECSHEE) and opens it in Model using the Draw‑in‑Model functionality.

Prerequisites

You must have read-only access to both the Engineering and Draft databases.

Draw-in Model functionality must be enabled to allow P&ID sheets to open correctly.

Each Engineering (P&ID) sheet must be properly linked to its corresponding Draw sheet.

The Structure of P&ID Viewer

The P&ID viewer has two grids:

Located P&ID(s) - Displays sheets that are located.

Connected P&ID(s) - Displays connected P&IDs for an open sheet.

The Located P&ID can be opened directly from the view.

The Draw sheet information that is displayed corresponds to the original Engineering (P&ID) sheet.

User workflow in Integrator Results

  1. On the Piping tab, in the Integrator group, select Compare to display the Integrator Results window. For more information see Integrator Results.

  2. Review the comparison rows displayed in the grid.

  3. Select a single comparison row containing the Engineering element you wish to locate.

  4. The P&ID Viewer identifies and displays the P&ID sheet(s) associated with the selected Engineering element.

User workflow in Integrator Build

  1. On the Piping tab, in the Integrator group, Select Build to display the Integrator Build window.

  2. Select a row in the missing elements grid containing the Engineering element you wish to locate.

The P&ID Viewer displays the P&ID sheet(s) associated with the selected element.

    Workflow in P&ID Viewer

Once the Located P&ID sheet(s) are in the grid, you can open a sheet from the list with Open the Selected P&ID(s).

The drawing sheet opens in Model and, by default, zooms in to the Engineering element in the sheet.

The element is highlighted for easy identification.

Note: If an item is present in multiple P&ID(s), the list displays all the sheets.

Zoom-In/Out enables you to zoom-in and out of the elements within the sheet.

    Note:
The opened sheet(s) are read-only and cannot be edited.
Selecting multiple rows clears the list and displays a message instructing you to select only one row.

    Connected P&ID(s)

When a located P&ID is opened, the grid below it displays the connected P&ID(s).

The connected sheet(s) also display when you select Navigate to the connected P&ID.

The connectors (OPC) are highlighted when the connected sheet opens.

If there are no connected sheets, it displays the prompt, No connected P&ID to navigate.
