Variant calculation examples

The system uses Variant/Chamfer configuration parameters to automatically calculate the variant and chamfer requirements during model processing, based on plate thickness and connection type. That means:

• Example 1 - Plate thicknesses are 12 and 16 mm:

  The difference is 4 mm. Because the thinner plate (12 mm) is thicker than the limit (10 mm), comparison should be made to the greater tolerance value (=5). Since 4 < 5, select a variant without chamfer.

• Example 2 - Plate thicknesses are 9 and 13 mm:

  Keeping the difference would result in a variant with chamfer because comparison should be made with the tolerance for thinner plates (=3).

Create new Variant/Chamfer configuration

1. On the Production Design tab, in the Configuration group, select Configuration.

   The application displays the Configurations window.

2. In the Production part of the window, select Variant/Chamfer.

3. Select the Add icon (right top corner).

4. Edit the default values in the application for:

   1. Name,

   2. Variant 0 tolerance,

   3. Chamfer Type,

   4. Chamfer Angle.

5. Select Store.

   The application stores the changed configuration set with the new name.
