Create a New Rule in Ancillary for Rules

For ancillary rules, it is possible to create the Rules Hierarchy from the Ancillaries for Rules window. For more information on using Ancillaries for Rules, see Ancillaries for Rules.

Create a New Ancillary Rule

  1. After validating the ancillary against the specified conditions, select New Rule from the Rule Hierarchy section.

The application searches the rules hierarchy for rule sets with the appropriate Purpose (PURP). If no rule sets exist with the required PURP value, the Rule Sets field displays None available.

In this example, the rule is an ancillary rule for Piping, so the application searches for rule sets with PURP set to ANSP, but none are found.

  2. Select to build the rule.

    The following alert appears:

  3. Select Yes to create the new RLSET in the current database (DB).

Note: Ensure you are located in the correct DB before selecting Yes.

The application creates a RLSET with the PURP set to ANSP.

Now that this RLSET exists, any ANSP ancillaries validated in Ancillaries for Rules includes this rule set in the Rule Sets dropdown menu. You can then choose to create another new rule set, or append the new ancillary rules to this RLSET.

  4. The Rule Manager window opens where you can make any adjustments to the rule set. See Create or Modify Rule Set for more information.

Rule Manager can also be accessed by selecting Modify Rule Set in the Paragon Supports application Rules group.
